Martin worked as a police officer in Stockholm, Sweden for 11 years before he joined the Swedish Insurance Investigation Unit, Larmtjanst AB in 1989. He then became a NAMI member - the first NAMI, later IAMI, member in Europe.
He started to work with marine crime in his country and became more and more of a specialist throughout the years. He has made a lot of contacts in and around Europe.
Larmtjanst AB is with the Swedish Insurance Investigation Unit; they started in 1972 to investigate insurance crime and look for stolen goods. Larmtjanst AB in Sweden is the same as NACB in USA.
After twenty years with Larmtjanst Martin began another new career with Atlantica Moderna Forsakringar in July 2009.
On January 13th, 2010, at IAMI's 20th Anniversary Training Conference in Galveston, Texas Martin was installed as the 10th President of the International Association of Marine Investigators.
