Tim Baumgarten • Certified Marine Investigator


Tim has a B.S. degree from Arizona State University and was honored as class valedictorian at the Arizona Law Enforcement Training Academy in 1981.

He has served throughout the state as an officer with the Arizona Game and Fish Department for 24 years. Tim is currently stationed in Kingman (Northwest Arizona) and has been serving in his current position as the Law Enforcement Program Supervisor since 1989. The Kingman region’s watercraft responsibility begins where the Colorado River flows out of the Grand Canyon and ends as it enters Lake Havasu, approximately 245 miles later.

He takes an active role in training and instructing officers regarding boat theft investigations, boating accident investigations and alcohol interdiction on the waterways of the State.

Tim has received UL certifications in advanced watercraft accident investigation training and has also completed the National Association of Boating Law Administrators (NASBLA) advanced boating accident investigation certification.

He supervises the accident investigations of all boating accidents in the region and has personally investigated over 100 accidents. He is currently a primary instructor at Arizona’s Watercraft Enforcement and Tactical School and has been since 1994.

Tim has supervised and participated in more boating sobriety checkpoints than any Arizona officer and has logged over 100 BUI arrests.

He is currently an instructor with the National Association of Boating Law Administrators (NASBLA) and is teaching BUI enforcement across the nation.
