Simon Lofting has worked in law enforcement for ten years, the last six involving marine crime.  For seven years prior to becoming a police officer he was a marine engineer.  As a qualified Field Intelligence Officer, Simon is currently the only investigator on the Essex Police Marine Unit.  

He holds Coastal Skipper license with the Royal Yachting Association & Department of Transport and Industry, RYA Day Skipper & Yacht Master certificates, as well as Level 2 advanced and safety boat, powerboat & MCA qualifications of competence.

As a commercial police diver he holds Health & Safety Executive police diver qualifications.  In relation to medical, he holds Immediate Trauma Life certificates and MCA proficiency in medical care & first aid on board ship, HSE offshore first aid and HSE at work qualifications.
