Richard B. Loucks • Certified Marine Investigator

Richard B. Loucks, Ph.D., P.E. has been practicing engineering for 20 years, holds a degree in Mechanical Engineering with emphasis on Naval Architecture and Marine Engineering from Virginia Polytechnic Institute (Virginia Tech), a degree in Mechanical Engineering (fluid and structure interaction) from Johns Hopkins University, and a Doctorate in Mechanical Engineering (turbulent fluid flow) from the University of Maryland.

He is a reserve U.S naval officer (LCDR), certified SCUBA diver, and has extensive recreational power and sailing boating experience. 

Richard is a forensic engineer performing marine product failure analysis (sheets sails, mast, hull, winches etc.), corrosion incidents, fire and explosion investigation, marine engine failures, sinking, swamping, collision and other boat accident investigations. He is with RTI Forensics of Annapolis, Maryland.
