Fraudfighters Usage Guidelines

Due to the confidential nature of this organization, no dissemination of any member's e-mail address outside of this organization will be tolerated.

Remember that it is very easy for someone to copy or forward your e-mail to someone else, so be careful about the confidential nature of the mail you send out.

Legal counsel to IAMI has advised that, whenever competitors within an industry communicate with one another, appropriate care must be exercised to assure that violations of anti-trust laws do not take place.  All members should avoid any collusive practices or discussions.  Collusion is a secret agreement to commit fraud and is most usually evidenced in the following anti-trust violations: product boycott, restrictive market allocation, refusal to deal with a third party, price restraining activities, targeting certain businesses and/or individuals, and premium rating.  There need not be written or verbal agreement to commit fraud, conversations regarding any of these sensitive areas may be construed as implicit violations.  In summary, one should avoid discussions of pricing such as the prices you pay and charge, including labor costs; market share and allocation; quality ratings of products or suppliers -- particularly those which may cause a competitor to lock out or to cease purchasing from a specific supplier(s); and any other areas which might have anti-competitive repercussions.  For your protection and the protection of your company, IAMI recommends that, should one of these subjects be brought up, it would be in your best interest to voice your objection to it and to disassociate yourself from the discussion if it continues.

No jokes.  If you want to be added to a joke list, let me know and I'll connect you.

No advertisements.  We are trying to share information of common interest, not market ourselves or our services.

No derogatory personal comments.  This will result in immediate suspension from the list.

Lurk before you post.  Observe what's going on, what is and isn't appropriate material.

While lurking, observe and try to learn all the special Netiquette that applies to mail lists.  Like not posting private replies.

Be sure and respond privately (and not to the entire list) when your answer or comments aren't going to benefit others on the list.  Be careful using the "REPLY" features of mail browsers unless you're sure of who it REPLIES to -- the original poster or the entire list.

Stay on topic.

Take disagreements and flame wars off-line -- that is, into private E-mail rather than broadcasting your arguments with some idiot to the entire group.  After all, he/she feels the same way about you!

Please SAVE these directions.

Be careful about using sarcasm, satire, tongue in cheek humor.  Often it's misinterpreted.  Use lots of smiley faces :) winks ;) and all to express actual emotions, like ;) when you're kidding around.

Don't copy an entire E-mail when replying to it.  Highlight only selected portions.  Use "..." or "snip" to indicate removal of body text.  Include the original poster's E-mail address when possible.

Don't post ASCII ART or "signatures" longer than 5-6 lines.  If posting more than one item per day to a list, turn your signature "OFF" on subsequent posts.  Some people have slow modems, believe it or not.

Never, ever, ever post a file to a mail list.  Will get you flamed faster than Richard Pryor smoking crack.  Do not ever USE, LAUNCH or READ an unsolicited file received from a list.  It might be virus laden.  Do the wise thing -- DELETE it!

Most of all, enjoy!!
